6 NEW HOTELS OPENING IN BLOOMINGTON

Six new hotels are opening between fall of 2015 and late 2016, bringing the total number of Bloomington hotels to over 40 and raising the number of rooms to over 9,000. The new hotels will draw a wide range of clientele with a wide range of amenities and styles.

JW Marriott’s first property in the state of Minnesota, the JW Marriott Minneapolis Mall of America®, is scheduled to open late Fall 2015 at 2141 Lindau Lane in Bloomington, Minnesota. With direct access to the Mall of America and as part of the $325 million expansion project, it is a ground-up, 14-story, 342 room hotel reflecting the highest level of luxury accommodations in the state. The unique style luxury service and refined design that have become synonymous with the JW Marriott brand worldwide.

The hotel’s 342 rooms will include: 170 Queen/Queens, 151 Kings, 20 King Suites and one Hospitality Suite. There will be a 15,414 sq. ft. grand ballroom, which divides into eight separate rooms and a 518 sq. ft. boardroom which brings the meeting space up to nearly 20,000 sq. ft.

The hotel amenities will include a well-appointed restaurant and bar offering upscale French American cuisine with an outdoor patio. A stunning lobby, bar, fitness centre, pool, executive lounge and underground parking will round out the hotel offerings.

The $25 million AC Hotel by Marriott will be located next to Mall of America at Lindau Lane and 24th Avenue South. The 148-room, 5-story AC Marriott MOA will have a “contemporary eclectic interior and include a parking garage, a restaurant and coffee shop”, said David Peters, president of Park City, Utah-based developer Terratron, Inc.

Opening in late 2016, the developers may add a grocery or market in a future phase on the site.

Later this year, Terratron plans to open a $15 million Marriott TownePlace Suites hotel in Bloomington across Lindau Lane from the AC Hotel. The property is an extended stay hotel with 118 rooms ranging from Studio King or Two Queen with sofa bed to a One Bedroom Suite with sofa bed. Amenities include fully equipped kitchens, free breakfast and high-speed internet and are also pet friendly.

A new 302 room Hyatt Regency hotel will open Spring of 2016 as the centrepiece of the Bloomington Central Station mixed-use development site; a transit-oriented, mixed-use urban village, located on the METRO Blue (Hiawatha) Line. The station will be connected via light rail to the Mall of America and its numerous shopping and entertainment attractions, both airport terminals at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus and Downtown Minneapolis’ business and entertainment districts.

Hyatt Regency Bloomington Central Station will feature 17,000 sq. ft. of meeting and pre-function space, including an 8,250 sq. ft. ballroom. The hotel will also include a three-meal restaurant, a bar and lounge, an indoor pool, a fitness centre, a market and coffee shop and business centre.

Home2 Suites by Hilton, an all-suite extended stay hotel, will be located at the intersection of Penn Avenue and American Boulevard in Bloomington. It will be the hotel concept’s first location in the Minneapolis/Saint Paul market and will have 107guest rooms by the end of 2015.

A 110-room Hampton Inn will open later this year on Normandale Boulevard in West Bloomington, and will offer 580 sq. ft. of meeting space, plus complimentary hot/cold breakfast buffet, high-speed Internet access and parking.
