New Flight Route: Norwegian are launching a brand new service from London Gatwick to Denver – the first to reach the city from LGW and not LHR. This is a gateway city for the Real America region and will make it more affordable and accessible than ever before. The flight will begin operating twice a week from 16 September on Tuesday and Saturdays with lead-in single fares of £199pp. A third weekly flight will be added on Thursdays for the winter season.
Event: Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, South Dakota (7-13 August 2017): For a week each August, Sturgis, South Dakota becomes Biker Heaven amid a sea of bikers, motorcycles, leather and denim as the Motorcycle Rally takes place. Dating back to 1938, the annual event will celebrate 77 years in 2017 and has long welcomed motorcycle enthusiasts from across the US and around the world. Based out of the small community of Sturgis in the northern Black Hills of South Dakota.
Event: 120th Cheyenne Frontier Days, Wyoming (21-30 July 2017): An outdoor rodeo and Western celebration held annually since 1897, this non-stop event brings in over 200,000 spectators every year over ten days of thrilling PRCA rodeo events, concerts, parades and pancake breakfasts – with something for every cowboy.
Event: Annual Buffalo Roundup, South Dakota (29 September 2017): An unforgettable slice of the Real America! Get up-close to majestic bison in their natural habitat at the annual Buffalo Roundup in South Dakota. Spectators will feel the thunder of hooves as approximately 1,300 bison race past, gaining a fantastic view of the animals in the spectacular surroundings of the 71,000 acre Custer State Park. Watch as cowboys group the buffalo into the corrals, ready for sorting, branding and treating – a landmark event in the South Dakota calendar.
Event: The Cowboy State of Wyoming in The Real America region is set to be one of the best locations in the USA to view the rare solar eclipse that will take place on 21 August 2017. Visitors interested in viewing the Eclipse and experiencing the Path of Totality should head for Fremont County, Wind River Country, Natrona County (Casper), Goshen, Platte, Converse and Teton County (Jackson) or the Old Yellowstone Highway between Dubois and Casper. The eclipse offers the perfect reason to add Wyoming to your 2017 bucket list, and with hotels almost all sold out, the recommendation is to book soon to avoid missing out and to consider a motorhome trip. While in Wyoming, British holidaymakers can twin eclipse viewing with adventures through the spectacular national parks of Yellowstone and Grand Teton, and get a taste of the Wild West with stops in the towns of Jackson, Cody and Buffalo.
