Paint your own Dali masterpiece or craft a glass sculpture at the Chihuly Collection, but don’t add to the street graffiti!

Whether you prefer to look at art or become the artist yourself, St. Pete/Clearwater on Florida’s sun-drenched Gulf Coast, offers a thriving arts community with works by world-renowned artists, both past and present, from classic masterpieces to quirky street art.

Though it’s hard to get sick of the 35 miles of white-sand beaches, visitors wanting a dose of culture can head to The Dali Museum to marvel at the unusual paintings, sculptures and visionary explorations of Salvador Dali’s largest collection outside of Spain. Bursting with quirkiness and personality, the museum is itself a piece of art, featuring 1,062 triangular-shaped glass panels and offering panoramic views over St. Pete’s waterfront.

The Dali hosts world-famous exhibitions and in July, Horst P. Horst is moving from London’s Victoria & Albert museum to exhibit before the Ferran Adrià exhibition takes over in September. Showcasing some of the greatest culinary work that is changing the landscape of gastronomy, visitors will be able to experience Adrià’s genius first-hand and try the lobster gazpacho dish created and served exclusively in The Dali’s Café Gala.

For those wanting to test their own artistic skills, Painting with a Twist offers evening classes in a relaxed and social environment. Guided by a team of instructors, budding artists can bring their own alcoholic beverages and food to enjoy whilst they create their own Dali masterpiece.

If painting isn’t your thing, after wandering around the awe-inspiring Chihuly Collection, consisting of multi-part glass sculptures from world-renowned artist Dali Chihuly, visitors can head to The Glass Studio & Hot Shop at the Morean Arts Center and try their hand at glass blowing. Various classes ranging from 30 minutes to two days, allow visitors the opportunity to learn a new skill and take a part of Chihuly home with them.

For those who are less inclined to visit the museums and galleries, the streets of St. Pete are also bursting with life, as each wall displays vibrant artistic gems in all shapes, sizes and styles. Due to the growing popularity of the 25 impressive mural artworks looming over the city, visitors can now take a guided tour every Saturday. However, it’s advised not to add to the street art whilst on your tour!
